Day 34 Sunday 7 June 2026
Today we made our way to The Lot valley. Taking its name from the River Lot which carves its way through the rocky beauty of the Causses limestone plateau around the capital Cahors, the department of the Lot finds its eastern border in the foothills of the Massif Central. We had visited the area in 2014 and have always wanted to return.
After a quiet night in Roquecor we drive about 15mins to Tournon d’Agenais, classified as one of the pretty villages of France and is stretched out along a hill top.
We parked Bluey in the designated motorhome area, then walked up into the walled village. The medieval street quickly took us to the Place des Corniers, the historic centre, a charming central square that is surrounded by houses above arched stone arcades. On one side is the town hall, and on the opposite corner is a 17th century bell tower with an attractive lunar clock below the bell, in copper with a deep blue background, that was added in the 19th century. |
| Didn't go in as mass was on |
There were several spots we could lookout at the views of the pretty valley below.
As it was still early on a Sunday morning there was not many people about.
Next we drove a little further to Puy l’Eveque, a medieval city built on a rocky outcrop, over the Lot River. Once again we park up where motorhomes are allowed and we have a stroll through the narrow streets and then up to the lookout and to the church, which is open!
We had time to drive to another village before the footy started, choosing Luzech, which had a shady spot on the banks of the river. Perfect.
Later we went for an explore of this lovely peaceful village that is set in a pensinular surrounded by the river.
