Only 3 Km from Chudleigh is the Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, our main destination for today. As it happens we visited here 25years ago.
It is privately owned and it primarily runs conservation and breeding programs for threatened and endangered species including the Tasmanian Devil. They also take in rescued and injured animals.
We went early and the kids feed the numerous kangaroos which roam freely in the park along with plenty of water fowls.
The entry includes a 45min interactive tour where we got to pat a juvenile wombat.
Unfortunately, due to the Tasmanian Devil mating season, the usual feeding demonstration was not on today. But we did get to pat one though.
We strolled around the park and we’re able to watch numerous Devils, wombats, quolls, potoroos and birds of prey. There was also an albino magpie… a first for us.
We decided not to go far for our stay tonight and parked up behind the pub at Mole Creek. We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon and then our farewell meal at the pub.
