Our next stop was Rupanyup another small country town that
once thrived but now offers a few sites for the traveller to stop and admire.
Once the busy railway station.
In 1998 the town opened up the first branch of the Bendigo Community Bank. It
is also part of the first Silo Art Trail, the images here being of two young
local sporting team members done in 2017.
The town also boasts the Woods
Farming and Heritage Museum. Along the ‘avenue of honour’ down the main street
there is a Chainsaw Art Trail with some amazing sculptures.
In the memory of the hard working women of the farming area.

We pulled up stumps
a little further East in Marnoo at the Memorial Park that is also a sports
oval. We found some shade and took it easy as the temperature reached 30° with
northerly winds.
In town there was a shed with some interesting local
history…who would have thought this town once had 4 churches! Luckily the wind
died down and we had a peaceful night. We passed the evening playing cards and admiring the beautiful sunset.
The next morning we drove about 30min east to St Arnaud. There is everything you need to top up. A local artist, KyleTorney, has painted many murals around the town reflecting its gold rush history and of the people of the town.
This one represents the gold rush with its hardships and hopeRon Reyne who ran his trucking business from here always
had a welcoming cuppa for the tradies who popped in.
Jeff Fenech, Lionel Rose and Kosta Tszyu on Kyle’s gym wall. Apparently they all trained here at some stage.
