Collie
We drove along the Barrier Hwy to Nyngan where the Bogan River has given the name to The Big Bogan.
The fertile plains have been the back bone of the economy in wool, wheat and cattle.
The biggest disaster the town has endured is the 1990 floods that saw 2,000 people evacuated by helicopter.
Unfortunately the shearer’s shed and museum were still closed due to Covid.
We continued on our way to Warren a quiet town on the Macquarie River known as the Wool and cotton capital. Auscott Cotton Gin dominates the town’s economy.
We ate our lunch near the lower weir and then kept on our 267km easterly journey stopping at the Collie Pub (free unpowered -31.667361, 148.302495) After a pleasant afternoon in the warm sun we had a good pub meal.
