Crossing Germany

Travelled : 621 km from Thieu Belgium to Obernissa Germany
Stay : Obernissa Stellplatz € 8, free water,  €2 electricity  hit GPS N50.95306 E11.14917

It was one of our longest drives today. We decided to try and go the furthest possible but as Murphy ' s law goes, we always seem to hit a hiccup at the end of these days when we least want them.
The day started with beautiful sunshine and we hit the road about 7:30am.  After a few slow spots on the motorway, we were close to the German border just after 9. We wanted to buy some Belgium beer, so we followed a sign to a major supermarket and veered off one of the exits but ended up finding only a small version of the store. All was not lost as Mark managed to buy a dozen stubbies and fit them in Bluey along with the 30 bottles of wine! Then into Germany we ventured,  keeping to the autobahn and stopping only for fuel and a bite to eat. We consulted our trusty sites - Camper Contact and Park4night,  and tried to make a decision of where to stop for the night. There are numerous places in some lovely towns. Unfortunately the 3 motorhome parking spots we ended up going to in Gotha were all taken and the other option was no good. As the saying goes 'Once bitten, twice shy'... Feeling tired, we didn't want to risk anymore disappointments going to spots with mixed  reviews, so we choose the Stellplatz in between Erfurt and Weimar.  Set on the edge of a small village with the view of canola fields, we were too busy to appreciate the surroundings.  Dinner was cooking and the gas regulator was installed. Then a few technical issues with phone apps and sim cards needed sorting out. By this time the sun was setting. The up side is that we have made good progress and tomorrow we can slow down a bit...
