Pambula Beach NSW Australia

D31-38 Friday 30 October - Friday 6 November 2026

From the lovely spot at Congo Beach we drove south on the Princess Highway.

We pulled in at the Apex park in Narooma. Long before it became the seaside town it is today, Wagonga Inlet served as a vital port, supplying the Dromedary and Nerrigundah goldfields from 1860. Sawmilling later became the region's main industry, with timber shipped to Sydney from local mills until the mid-1950s. Narooma was declared a town in 1886. Even in its early days, Narooma drew visitors with its natural beauty, superb ocean and inlet fishing, and plentiful oysters.

After some breakfast we strolled out on the breakwater offering some beautiful views of the coast. We also spotted some seals.

Then it was back on the road, stopping in Bega for a bit of shopping before returning to the coast, arriving at Pambula Beach Discovery Park around 11:30am/160km later.

We spent 7 nights here with our daughter and her family, enjoying the facilities and the beach.

There were plenty of friendly kangaroos, lots of bird life and we even spotted a couple of lace monitors.

We ate lunch out at the local brewery.

Went to Merimbula wharf.

Looking back at Pambula beach … 5km via the beach

Drove up to Tathra to its historical wharf. Then having lunch at the hotel. We also walked around the headland before returning to camp.

Of course we also had to try out the delicious local oysters.

Before we knew it the week was over! We decided to drive the 564km back home in a day stopping at Eden for a breakfast pie.

Later we had a cuppa in Orbost and further on we stopped for a quick lunch at Glengarry park, arriving home around 5pm.

Over our 5 weeks away we drove 2,214 km.
