Gippsland Vic

We decided to have a short getaway before Christmas and have a bit of a reset after a busy couple of months. We set off early driving through Poweltown and onto Noojee. We drove out to look at the Poplars campsite which has been updated recently.

We enjoyed a cuppa at the foot of the historic trestle bridge.

We then returned via Noojee to Toorongo Falls. It was a beautiful walk through the rain forest.

We spent our first night at the camp ground there, surprised with how many where there … especially on a Monday night.

Buster’s batteries required to be replaced at the Isuzu truck service centre in Morwell. We were appreciative of their rapid response in getting the job done and under warranty too.

We spent a quiet night on the banks of the Avon River at Streamside Reserve near Perry Bridge.

We enjoyed our stay in Metung with walks along the boardwalk and a drink at the pub. There is such a relaxed atmosphere here. Just perfect. We stayed at the free RV stop.

We spent a lovely day and night at Glasshouse camp on the banks of Lake Tyers. We even walked out to the ocean beach for a look.

Mark tried out the outside shower for the first time.

We drove through beautiful countryside via Omeo to a favourite spot at Victoria Falls. Falling asleep to the pitter patter rain drops on Busters roof.

We drove up to Dinner Plain and walked around this unique alpine village.

The weather clear up a bit so we walked from the village to JB Plain Hut.

Previously we have done most the walks here so we continued on to Mount Hotham.

The next part of our journey was in the clouds.

Luckily it cleared up before we took the Dargo Plains Road. Which was good gravel road and then bitumen near the end.

We turned off and went to a long time favourite camp at Italian Flat. The weather warmed up to have a dip in the beautiful river. Finishing off the day around the fire.

We enjoyed lunch at the iconic Dargo Pub and were surrounded by a few unimogs by the time we left.

Our plans to go to Angusvale were foiled by a closed road sign so we continued through some beautiful farm land to a new destination of McKinnons Point on the Freestone Creek.

We escaped the rain and spent a dry but windy night at McGaurans Beach situated along the great 90mile Beach.

The next day we drove in to have a look Woodside and Reeves beach and then left the coast to spend the rest of the day at White Woman Waterhole near Won Wron. We managed a walk in the forest then got the fire pit out before the rain came. There was lots of bird life here.

Mark found a good sized log but decided it would take too long to burn through so got the trusty chainsaw out.

We spent our last day dodging rain drops in beautiful Gippsland with a visit with old friends in Mirboo North.

We spent the night in a lovely RV park in Jinnar. Someone has been very creative with the sculptures scattered around.
