Limestone Coast SA

Travelled: 2100 km from Melbourne during 10 days touring the Limestone Coast SA

Our drive took us through Ballarat to Linton, where we stopped to meet Honey's breeder at Tinee Town. We then made our way to Ferguson Camp on the shores of Rocklands Reservoir.
The next morning we explored a few places around the reservoir.

As we dove through Harrow we noticed that a Billy Cart Race was on so stopped to have a look.
Harrow claims to be the oldest inland town of Victoria. In 1868 the first Aboriginal cricket team to tour  England was established here. We are always amazed at the history of these small towns.
We camped at Lake Bringalbert for a couple of nights.

Just across the border in South Australia is the well known wine region. We couldn't resist a visit to The Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Rymill and Yalumba for some tastings and a couple of bottle to take on our trip.We stayed at a caravan park in Penola and spent the rest of the day wondering around this pretty historical area and enjoyed a pub meal for dinner.
The next morning we explored Mount Gambier once again. It is a large town and an important rural centre with plenty of historical buildings. At this time of year the Blue Lake shows off its unique colour. There are several reasons for this dramatic hue including the suns reflection off calcium carbonate particles in the water.
We then had a look at Umpherston Gardens that have been landscaped in a sinkhole.
We spent the night back in Victoria at a camp in Dartmoor.
We specifically came here to have a look at the tree sculptures done from the Atlantic Cedars that had been planted as an Avenue of Honour after WWI.

In the morning we ventured back into SA and stayed at Port MacDonnell. It is the southernmost town in SA. The area has some dramatic coastline.
We continued along the coast to Southend and decided that the parking bay overlooking Rivoli Bay was a perfect place to stop.
We ended our trip on the coast at Beachport. The beautiful white sands and the aquamarine water in this area is amazing. Of course we walked out on the jetty (the 2nd longest in the state at 772m long).

After our night at the caravan park we headed further up the coast to Robe.

We walked out on the jetty at Kingston SE.
Then back into Victoria we spent a peaceful night at Lake Ratzcastle before heading back home.
Stopped for a cuppa at Green Lake.
