Wertheim and Miltenberg Germany

Day 86 / Germany 9
Travelled:181km to Wertheim and Miltenberg on the Main River.
Stay: parking near Mannheim on the Rhine River (49.5422, 8.4204)

We enjoyed a cool and peaceful night in Wurzburg .
We set off to Wertheim, situated on the Main River.
We took the bikes off Bluey and road along the river to the confluence of the Main and Tauber River.
We then ventured into the old town soaking up the atmosphere. The 36m 13thC high tower used to be a gaol for drunkards and shrewish women (whatever that means ?) the original entrance was 10m above ground and could only be accessed via a ladder,
The St.Kilian Chapel
St.Mary church
The Blue House was very rare back in 1593 as the colour had to beade from Smalt, a mixture of finely crushed glass and cobalt.
We ventured up towards the castle ruins.
Next we followed the Main River. There were a few more castles, quarries of pink sandstone and more pretty villages.
We thought Miltenberg was even prettier with many more half timbered buildings.
Zum Riesen is Germany’s longest continuously operating inn since 1411.
The market square.
In the background is the Mainbrucke gateway from the bridge over the river.
St.Jakobus.
We bought sandwiches from the fish monger, washing it down with the local brew.
There was also a unique  fountain.
Bluey was left in the sun and the mercury was rising, as there want many shady options we decided to do some k’s .
We have had issues with the water pump running on and low water pressure. Mark cleaned the filter but still no improvement. So we headed to Berger (a camping accessories store) near Mannheim. We purchased a new pump for €85 to be fitted at a later date. We found a spot on the Rhine River nearby and hoped that there was shade. As luck would have it, we hit the jackpot. We followed the locals and went to have a dip in the river which was very warm but still refreshing enough to help lower the temperature as the mercury hits 42°.
